Cryptocurrency Exchanges
Cryptocurrency exchanges facilitate the trading of fiat currencies and digital currencies (also known as cryptocurrencies, coins, and tokens). Bitcoin, the best-known cryptocurrency, was developed in 2009 and by 2010 the first exchange, Mt. Gox was launched. Starting in 2011 other cryptocurrencies have been sold through initial coin offerings (ICOs) and created through a digital process known as “mining”. Hundreds of online exchanges have been launched around the world over the last few years to allow buying and selling cryptocurrencies with regular fiat currencies and trading between the different cryptocurrencies.
